ROPP Cap Specification Sheet: Aqua Cap and Bev Cap, 28/15 mm

This is the specification for the two ROPP closures R Vision manufactures. Aqua Cap and Bev Cap are both 28/15 mm aluminium roll-on pilfer-proof closures with a PE ring and a TPE liner, rated to 8 bar, suited to hot fill, cold fill and carbonated products, and adhering to USFDA and EU standards. Aqua Cap carries a three-part break-system ring for packaged drinking water; Bev Cap carries a retained ring that lets the bottle reseal, with a PVC-free liner. Minimum orders start at 50,000 caps and lead time is 4 to 6 weeks.

How this sheet is laid out

Each closure has one table holding everything a purchase specification needs, from size to shelf life, so a buyer can print the page or copy a table into an approval file. Lines that are agreed per order rather than fixed, such as tolerances and decoration, follow the two tables. Industry figures used for comparison are marked as reference and are not R Vision’s specification.

The product page for Aqua Cap explains how the ring works, and the three-part tamper break system covers the mechanism in detail.

The Bev Cap product page describes the three ring variants, and the retained-ring design is covered in resealable tamper-evident caps. Which of the two closures fits a given product is set out in Aqua Cap and Bev Cap compared.

Dimensions and tolerances

Both closures are 28 mm in nominal diameter and 15 mm in height, and the tolerance on each dimension is agreed against the neck finish drawing of the bottle they will run on. How tolerances are set per size, and the sampling plan used to check a lot against them, are covered in cap dimension tolerances and QC sampling.

Gauge, weight and pieces per kilogram

Across the industry, ROPP shells are typically drawn from aluminium around 0.20 to 0.23 mm thick, and cap weight follows diameter, height and gauge. These are reference figures, not an R Vision specification; the dependable way to fix weight and pieces per kilogram for an order is to weigh a counted sample. The arithmetic is worked through in ROPP cap weight and gauge.

Lines to agree before a first order

Some lines of a closure specification depend on your bottle, your line and your artwork, so they are agreed per order rather than printed on a standard sheet. Settling them before production is what keeps a first delivery from turning into a dispute.

Line to agree Why it varies What to send or ask for
Neck finish The closure is rolled against your bottle’s thread The finish drawing, or sample bottles for a capping trial
Ring variant (Bev Cap) Break behaviour depends on neck and capping head Samples of Round Ring, Two Slit and Five Slit
Decoration and colour Plain, colour and litho runs differ in set-up and MOQ Artwork, colour reference, and a signed approved sample
Inspection plan Buyer and supplier must count defects the same way Sampling plan to IS 2500 (Part 1), inspection level and AQL per defect class
Test methods Removal torque, leak and secure-seal results depend on the method The tests and acceptance ranges your quality team uses
Documents Approval files differ between buyers Food-contact declarations and test reports your auditor expects
Carton marking Traceability from a filled pack back to a lot Batch and manufacturing date on each carton

The tests a quality team runs on incoming closures are explained in testing a ROPP closure, and removal torque in cap torque specifications. The documents a buyer should request, and what each proves, are listed in quality certificates to ask your cap supplier for. Packing and delivery

Caps ship in PE bags packed into export-grade corrugated cartons. Keep cartons in a clean store between 5 and 30 °C and use stock in manufacturing-date order within the two-year shelf life. Carton counts and stacking are covered in packing and storage for aluminium closures, and the order process from enquiry to despatch in bulk ROPP cap orders.

Frequently asked questions

What size are R Vision’s ROPP caps?

Both Aqua Cap and Bev Cap are 28/15 mm: a 28 mm nominal diameter matched to a 28 mm neck finish, and a 15 mm height. R Vision manufactures this one size only.

What liner do Aqua Cap and Bev Cap use?

Both use a TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) liner. Bev Cap’s liner is specified PVC-free. The liner is the only part of the closure that touches the product.

What pressure are R Vision’s ROPP caps rated to?

Both closures are rated to 8 bar and suit hot fill, cold fill and carbonated products, so the same closure specification covers still water, sparkling water and carbonated soft drinks.

What tolerances apply to a 28/15 mm ROPP cap?

Tolerances are agreed against the neck finish drawing of the bottle the closure runs on, rather than published as a single figure. Send the finish drawing or sample bottles with the enquiry so the specification is fixed before production.

Which neck finishes do Aqua Cap and Bev Cap fit?

Both closures are supplied against MCA I, MCA II, MCA III, MCA 7.5 R and MCA 7.5 RF glass finishes and the PET BPF finish, all in the 28 mm family.

What is the minimum order and lead time?

The minimum order is 50,000 caps in plain silver, 200,000 in plain colours and 300,000 litho printed. Lead time is 4 to 6 weeks from a confirmed order.
