Bev Cap FAQ: Common Questions About R Vision’s Beverage Closure

Bev Cap is an aluminium ROPP beverage closure made by R Vision Pvt. Ltd at MIDC Malegaon, Sinnar, Nashik, Maharashtra. It is 28/15 mm, carries a PVC-free TPE liner, is rated to 8 bar, and its pilfer-proof ring stays attached after opening so the bottle reseals. This page answers what beverage bottlers ask before they order. The full specification sits on the Bev Cap product page, and the water closure has its own Aqua Cap FAQ.

Two topics come up more than any other, and both have pages of their own: what an 8 bar pressure rating means and why PVC-free liners matter for beverage brands.

Frequently asked questions

What is Bev Cap?

Bev Cap is an aluminium roll-on pilfer-proof closure for beverages, made in 28/15 mm. It combines an aluminium cap body, a PE tamper ring and a PVC-free TPE liner, and is rated to withstand pressures up to 8 bar. It suits hot fill, cold fill and carbonated products.

Who makes Bev Cap?

R Vision Pvt. Ltd, at E-13/7/5, MIDC Malegaon, Sinnar, Nashik 422 113, Maharashtra, India. The name is a generic-sounding one that unrelated firms outside India also trade under, so to be clear: the Bev Cap described here is the aluminium ROPP closure manufactured in Nashik by R Vision.

Can Bev Cap hold carbonation?

Yes. Bev Cap is rated to withstand pressures up to 8 bar, which is what keeps a carbonated drink fizzy across shelf life. Dissolved carbon dioxide pushes outward on the closure, and that pressure climbs as the product warms, so a closure has to hold the peak rather than the average.

What does the 8 bar rating actually mean?

One bar is roughly the pressure the atmosphere exerts at sea level, so 8 bar is about eight times that. A chilled carbonated drink sits well below it and a warm or shaken one still stays under it, which makes the rating a working margin across storage and transport rather than a ceiling.

What is the liner made of, and is it PVC-free?

The liner is TPE, thermoplastic elastomer, and on Bev Cap it is specified PVC-free. The liner is the disc inside the cap that compresses against the bottle rim to form the seal, and it is the only part of the closure in direct contact with the drink.

Why does a PVC-free liner matter?

PVC is rigid on its own, so it has to be softened with plasticisers before it will seal. Those plasticisers can migrate from the liner into the contents, and food-contact rules in the EU and the United States have tightened around several of them. TPE seals without them, which removes the question at source.

What standards does Bev Cap follow?

Bev Cap is made adhering to USFDA and EU standards for food-contact materials. In India the beverage itself is separately governed by FSSAI rules covering packaging and labelling, which apply to the filled product rather than to the closure component on its own.

Does the tamper ring fall off when the bottle is opened?

No. The pilfer-proof ring breaks on first opening, which is what makes the closure tamper evident, but it stays attached instead of dropping away. The bottle can be resealed, and the broken ring remains visible as proof the original seal has been opened.

Is Bev Cap still tamper evident if the ring stays attached?

Yes. Tamper evidence depends on the break being visible and permanent, not on the ring falling off. Once broken, the ring cannot be pushed back together or disguised, so a distributor or a consumer can still judge a bottle without opening it.

What ring variants are available?

Three: Round Ring, Two Slit and Five Slit. Round Ring is a continuous retained ring. Two Slit has two slit points controlling where the ring gives way. Five Slit has five, for a lighter and more distributed break. The choice depends on the bottle neck and capping head, so sample all three.

Will Bev Cap run on our existing capping line?

Yes, if the line is a standard roll-on capping line and the bottle neck is 28/15 mm. Bev Cap is supplied unthreaded and the capping head forms the thread onto the neck at application, so no conversion is needed. Roller pressure and head alignment should be set for the specific neck.

What size is Bev Cap, and are other sizes available?

Bev Cap is 28/15 mm, where 28 is the neck diameter in millimetres and 15 is the cap height. That is the only closure size R Vision manufactures, so a bottle neck has to be matched to it before ordering.

Which bottle finishes does Bev Cap cover?

Available finishes are MCA I/II/III, MCA 7.5 R, MCA 7.5 RF and PET BPF. Which one is correct depends on your bottle’s neck specification, so confirm the finish at enquiry stage against the bottle supplier’s technical drawing.

What decoration options are there?

The top of the cap can be plain, litho printed or hot foiled, and the side plain or litho printed. Colours are customised to the brand. Litho printing needs plates cut for your artwork, which is why it sits at a higher minimum order than a plain run.

Can Bev Cap be used for hot-fill products?

Yes. Bev Cap is specified for hot fill, cold fill and carbonated products. On a hot fill the headspace cools and contracts after capping, and the TPE liner has to hold the seal through that change.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Minimum order is 50,000 caps for plain silver, 200,000 for plain colours and 300,000 for litho printing. The tiers reflect setup rather than the cap itself: a colour run adds a coating pass, and litho needs printing plates made for the artwork.

What is the lead time?

4 to 6 weeks from a confirmed order. On litho-printed orders, artwork approval sits ahead of that window, because plates cannot be cut until the design is signed off.

How are caps packed, and what is the shelf life?

Caps are packed in PE bags, and the bags go into export-grade corrugated cartons. Store cartons in a clean environment between 5 and 30 degrees centigrade. Shelf life is two years from the manufacturing date printed on the carton, so rotate stock against the carton date.

How do we get samples or a quotation?

Send the bottle neck specification, the fill type and whether the product is carbonated, the volume, and the decoration you want. Ask for all three ring variants in the sample set. Plain silver samples are the fastest route in, because they skip the artwork and plate stage.
