R Vision Pvt. Ltd manufactures aluminium roll-on pilfer-proof (ROPP) closures at MIDC Malegaon, Sinnar, Nashik, in one size, 28/15 mm. There are two products: Aqua Cap for packaged drinking water and Bev Cap for beverages. Both are an aluminium shell with a PE ring and a TPE liner, rated to 8 bar and adhering to USFDA and EU standards. Minimum orders start at 50,000 caps for plain silver, and lead time is 4 to 6 weeks.
What an aluminium closure is
An aluminium closure is a metal bottle cap whose thread is rolled onto the bottle during capping, so the seal forms against that bottle’s own neck. The shell arrives plain. A roll-on head presses it down to compress the liner, thread rollers form the thread, and pilfer rollers tuck the tamper band under the neck’s locking ring.
Aluminium is a common closure material for water and beverages for practical reasons:
- Formed seal. Because the thread is created in place, the seal matches that bottle rather than a mould average.
- Taint-free. Aluminium does not carry odour or flavour into the product, which matters for something as taste-sensitive as drinking water.
- Pressure handling. A rolled aluminium seal holds pressure well, so the same closure family covers still, sparkling and carbonated fills.
- Recyclable. Aluminium is widely recycled, which supports brands trying to reduce packaging impact.
- Premium look. A metallic finish, with brand colours or litho printing, lifts a pack off the shelf in a way moulded plastic caps rarely match.

The aluminium closures R Vision makes
R Vision’s product range is two closures in one size. Both share 28/15 mm and the 8 bar rating, so a line can run either without changing capping hardware. The ROPP caps page covers the format as a whole, and Aqua Cap and Bev Cap compared helps a buyer pick between the two.

The full specification for each sits on the Aqua Cap and Bev Cap product pages, and beverage bottlers’ most common questions are answered in the Bev Cap FAQ.
Formats, finishes and decoration
R Vision supplies both closures against six neck finishes: MCA I, MCA II, MCA III, MCA 7.5 R, MCA 7.5 RF and PET BPF. The MCA family are 28 mm glass finishes drawn for aluminium roll-on closures, and PET BPF is the PET finish listed alongside them. Glass bottle neck finishes for ROPP caps maps each MCA finish to its published data sheet, so a buyer can check the bottle drawing against it before ordering.
Decoration is specified with the cap, not added afterwards, and it sets the minimum order.
| Order type | What the cap carries | Minimum order |
|---|---|---|
| Plain silver | Base aluminium finish | 50,000 |
| Plain colours | Colour matched to the brand | 200,000 |
| Litho printed | Artwork printed on the top, the side or both | 300,000 |
Embossing on the top, and hot foiling on Bev Cap, are specified with the rest of the decoration at enquiry. Lead time is 4 to 6 weeks. The options, and what each adds to a run, are set out in custom printed and embossed bottle caps.
Material and gauge
The shell is aluminium, the tamper ring is PE and the liner is TPE; how food-contact rules treat the metal and the liner is set out in food-grade aluminium and liner safety standards. Across the industry, a 28 mm ROPP shell is typically drawn from aluminium around 0.20 to 0.23 mm thick. Gauge moves with the cap diameter and skirt length, and a heavier gauge adds metal, and therefore cost, to every thousand caps.
The gauge for a given order belongs on the supplier’s specification sheet, and cap weight and pieces per kilogram follow from it. ROPP cap weight, gauge and pieces per kilogram works through that arithmetic. Because the shell is metal, price tracks the aluminium market, which what drives ROPP cap prices in India breaks down.
Aluminium against plastic closures
Aluminium ROPP closures are chosen for a seal formed to the neck, pressure holding and a decorated metal finish. Moulded plastic screw caps are chosen for low unit weight on lightweight PET lines. The difference runs through the neck, the capping head and the way the closure is ordered.
| Aluminium ROPP closure | Plastic screw cap (HDPE or PP) | |
|---|---|---|
| Thread | Rolled onto the neck during capping | Moulded into the cap in advance |
| How it is ordered | Diameter and height, such as 28/15 mm, plus the neck finish | A finish code such as PCO 1881 or 38-400 |
| Seal set by | Head load on the liner and the rolled thread | Application torque on a moulded thread |
| Tamper evidence | Pilfer band formed under the locking ring at capping | Moulded band that breaks, or a tethered band |
| Bottles | Glass and PET with a ROPP finish | Mostly PET and HDPE |
| Decoration | Brand colour, litho printing, embossing, hot foiling | Moulded colour, printed top on some |
| Capping head | Roll-on head with thread and pilfer rollers | Chuck head that torques the cap on |
| Recovery | Aluminium shell and PE ring are separate material streams | Polyolefin cap, sorted separately from a PET bottle |
The full trade-off, including cost and shelf presence, is in aluminium vs plastic bottle caps.
Applications each suits

Frequently asked questions
What are aluminium closures?
Aluminium closures are metal bottle caps whose threads are rolled onto the bottle during capping, forming a tight seal matched to that bottle. They are common on water and beverage bottles because aluminium is taint-free, holds pressure, takes decoration well and is recyclable.
Why choose aluminium over plastic caps?
Aluminium gives a seal formed to the individual neck, does not taint the product, handles carbonation pressure well and offers a metallic finish that takes colour, litho printing and embossing. Plastic screw caps suit lightweight PET lines where unit weight and cost lead the decision.
What aluminium closures does R Vision make?
R Vision makes two aluminium ROPP closures: Aqua Cap for packaged drinking water, with a three-part break-system ring, and Bev Cap for beverages, whose ring stays attached so the bottle reseals. Both are 28/15 mm, use a TPE liner and are rated to 8 bar.
Are R Vision’s aluminium closures food safe?
Both Aqua Cap and Bev Cap adhere to USFDA and EU standards and are intended for packaged drinking water and beverages. The liner, the only part touching the product, is TPE, and on Bev Cap it is specified PVC-free.
How thick is the aluminium in a ROPP cap?
Across the industry a 28 mm ROPP shell is typically drawn from aluminium around 0.20 to 0.23 mm thick. The figure moves with diameter and skirt length, so confirm the gauge on the supplier’s specification sheet for the cap you are ordering rather than relying on a general range.
What is the minimum order for aluminium closures from R Vision?
50,000 caps for plain silver, 200,000 for plain colours and 300,000 for litho printing, with a lead time of 4 to 6 weeks. The same tiers apply to Aqua Cap and Bev Cap.
